Help with my Flowerbed! And landscaping

Wellington, KS

Overflowing with weeds what can I do get ride of them and to give the flowerbed more color? Also what could I do to give my yard more curb Appeal?

Weeds:
Hand weed, being sure to remove the roots. Loosen the soil so the roots are easy to pull out.
If any grow back spray them.

Curb appeal:
Look at the overall balance of the yard. Not just the plants, but how the walkway approaches the house, window location, and any other features.
Then start with the larger plants: Are the trees well located in a balance with the house? Larger shrubs in the right places?
In the mid size plants is there a mix of colors and textures? Leaf color, flower color, fruit.
Target some areas for annual flowers. Something that will be replaced seasonally. Not large areas, that takes a while and costs a lot to be swapping things out. Pick up on the walkway, heading toward the door, and perhaps some near the tree (I am not sure if I see a tree- if not, plant one!)

In addition to Diana_K's excellent ideas, what about some large containers on the porch and/or some window boxes. You can swap out plants in both as they start to look tired and even use evergreens during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.
