What did you grow in it last year?

As the weather warms more and more seeds sprout. Some seem to like it when the soil is disturbed (such as by removing the prior weeds). I would weed it again, soon. That young, simply disrupting the surface will expose the little seedlings and kill perhaps 99% of them.

Are any of the largest from incompletely removed weeds? Bits of root left in the soil? Those will have to be dug out with a bit more effort.

Good chance they are seedlings from whatever was in this planter last year, particularly given how dense they are.

It's like grass when it gets bigger. I'll take a new pic tomorrow. Last year was tomatoes, squash and bell peppers.

It's always difficult to tell what seeds have germinated just by looking at them when that small, IF you planted the seeds yourself, you would recognise them because you would have taken notes of what, where and when you planted the seeds.

To do a proper ID, you need to wait till the seedlings have grown a second pair of TRUE leaves, that makes it easier to tell what they are as the small secondary leaves should look like the real parent leaves ie: tomato leaves or pepper leaves, however, onions all look like grass leaf no mater how mature they are until adulthood.

In the event you DONT want these seedlings to mature and grow on preventing the BOX from being planted, then either Rake or Hoe the ground making the seedling impossible to keep growing,
You may have to do the Hoe or rake every week for about a month as by then you will have got even the seeds that are later to germinate.

If your going to grow BOX, if you have not already done so, then make sure you add lot's of manure / or any type of humus / compost you can to the soil as these plants will be growing in the same spot for many years to come I assume.
The manure or compost will allow moisture to be retained longer in the soil, it allows air to get into the soil and also adds nourishment at the root areas where it's most needed, lastly it makes the soil easier for roots to penetrate, spread out and go deeper down in search of moisture, instead of sitting just under the top soil waiting for hand watering to wet the roots.
Another tip for watering shrubs /tree's etc is at planting time, when you put the shrub / tree into the planting hole, backfill with some good soil mix and then insert an empty clear plastic juice container, you need to cut the bottom off the container and the cap, insert the container cap end down, leave about 2 inches above soil and firm ALL the soil around the roots and the planting hole, when watering, you fill up the container and the water reaches down to the roots, in hot climates the heat forms a crust on top of the soil and any watering done means this water runs off the soil and the roots don't get a good drink, you can also add liquid feed this way too.
Hope this helps you get ready to plant your Box Bed and you have much enjoyment from your garden.
Kindest Regards.

Thanks so much for the help. I'll turn up the soil and see what happens. I need to get my vegetables planted soon.

That young, just plow through them. Most will die.
If they are sprouting from bits of roots left in the soil from before they will need to be removed better.

The seedings aren't tomatoes, squash or peppers.
