Potato leaf issue zon 91

Holly Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

I have a potato plant, being grown in container by drip feed with fertilizer. Something has begun eating leaves. What is it and how do I control?

Go out at dusk or later with a flashlight.
Look on the stems and leaves.
During the day turn over the soil or mulch.

Many pests live in the soil through the day, then climb the plants at night to eat. Some hide in the angle between the stem and petiole.

Set out some rolled newspaper as traps. Many pests will hide in here in the daytime. Unroll the news paper into a white 5 gallon bucket to see what you caught, or just throw the news paper away with its bugs and set out new ones.

If that is too slow then put out some bait that is attractive to soil crawling pests in case it is that sort, and spray the plant with something that targets beetles.
