Hi, I need some help. I have a 1 year a half old Mandarin Dwarf tree. Can anyone please let me know if I should prune it and where to make the cuts. I also have a 2 year old apricot tree and need some advice on pruning aswell. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks .
pruning help
Do you want the Mandarin to become a small tree? Or to grow as more of a shrub? They can make a really nice miniature tree, if you want to prune it that way, or they can stay branched lower, and be a bit more shrub-like. What variety is it?
Do you know if the Apricot is a semi dwarf or full sized tree? They are generally pruned with the same goal in mind, but minor variations in technique. The goal is to harvest the fruit easily. Do some reading about apricot pruning and diseases. They are pruned in the growing season so they can fight off Eutypa.
Here is a great site with LOTS of info about growing fruits at home.
