I plan on planting gentry hybrid crookneck and jackpot hybrid zucchini. I know the zucchini is more of a bush type, but can the gentry grow on a trellis? If not/so what is the spacing and what can I get away with in a 4' x 12' box? I had planned on growing the gentry on a sloped trellis, but after countless searches by The Google I haven't been able to pin down exactly what to do. Any help would be much appreciated.
summer squash planting
BigWood, I believe that is a bush-type plant; and yes, I think it would do fine in your 4x12 box (although it might overlap the sides a bit...) I would actually plant 6 of them in the 4x12 box, with pairs (planted close together) spaced 4 feet apart lengthwise. Or a combination of that with the zucchini. But if you don't think you want that many plants, it never hurts to give them more, rather than less, room!
