That's great! We'll finish in spring. Thanks everybody for running this on what felt like autopilot. They should all go so smoothly. :)
If you need some good company when this swap is over, come on over to the ugly mug swap.

2015 Spring Round Robin - On the Wing!
Glad I didn't have to "hunt anyone down" this go-round :)
Thanks everyone! And a special thanks to our hostess Amanda.
Thank you all, for your contributions and for a great seed robin...and esp'lly to Amanda for hosting!!
See you all on other forums; enjoy chatting with you all!
Thanks Amanda, and all who made this possible.
Thank you for letting me play, Amanda. I know that I joined late.
I already have so many seeds sprouting and am still in the process of planting them out. I had always thought it would be nice to see pics of everyone's gardens with their plants all a flower.
The bird has landed! Like someone else mentioned, the cats were all over it. Haha
It's chock full! I didn't get to examine the contents, but I can see everyone was very generous with their time, effort, and seed. :)
Thanks so much for playing. My first Robin was truly one of the most amazing experiences I'd ever dreamed possible. I hope everyone found something to delight.

A final (?!) thought:
We'd agreed to donate seed to the new bee stash. Having contacted the person who was keeper of the seed, I now understand it is mostly defunct. The reason being, among others, is that seed swapping/trading is against the law (!!!) in many states. Perhaps we can thank Monsanto and gmo's for this type of legislation. However, it does call into question future trades, robins, and swaps.
Thoughts, questions, comments?
That doesn't make sense! If you can purchase seed from other states then why would it be illegal to trade seed? I can see where specific seed might be restricted in certain states like Hawaii, CA, such as invasive or harmful plants. I know a FEW states have restrictions on what can be shipped in as far as agricultural products.
But I think that is BS. What are they going to do? Send the FBI to arrest a bunch of ladies for trading seeds.
There are a lot of laws on the books that are antiquated, stupid, or just plain ridiculous.
Seeing as you are the one with the law degree, Amanda maybe you can see if this merits concern or not. I sincerely doubt that it would impact our trades.
Just remember , the law always wins ,, it is the power aggravation psyche , because nature always gets even with everybody ,,,
At present the structure of process is losing control, logic of reason , and getting it done as accomplished is the first victim ,(always ) the second is all of us as population , is the next to be blamed , purposely or not ,,
well poop , huh ?
Don't sneeze ,, your arrested ,,
A good thought ,, the patriot act ended or ends Saturday ?
Remember when you could mind your own business , without having to listen to whoever minding yours ? ain't it
Well my point is, where is it written that trading seeds is Illegal. I would like to see it in print to see how it applies to me. Sometimes these things are subject to interpretation.
Only a few so far about invasives , and those are fines ,, like if selling Bull thistle , or Milk Thistle ,, those are two where either of us are , that are a fine if caught selling them ,, as for trading what already is .. it is like handing someone a pen to jot down with , how do you enforce that ?,, ridiculous ...

Such a rule to stop seed trading is obviously something promoted by Big Business (what else is new?) Until we get back to government by the people instead of by Big Business, these sorts of problems will increase and continue. The biggest problem is the Supreme Court's ruling that a corporation has the same rights as an individual. Our government is rapidly being overtaken by Big money, leaving People out of it.
I don't think I ever said anything like this on DG before, but we need a change in direction. But who will provide it????
You go, Crystal! you are just speaking the truth! Government already controls enough of our lives. I am NOT going to let them have control over my garden too!
Big Business promotes these things.
Yup!
And government coalesces and makes it law, without the legislation it's just a wish by 'big business'.
Kind of has us all '" Wish in one Hand , and do that in the Other "" that kind of thing ,
At least we can all still throw it the garden ,,, lol ?
Maybe i should of said . " I don't understand , I grow Roses and Clematis" ?
Hi All ,,,

Dome,
Those are GOREGOUS! I would love to try and grow some!
I just planted some oriental poppy seeds to see if I can get them going and maybe get flowers next year.
When you plant your opium poppies, do you direct sow in the ground or start in doors? Any tips/helpful info?
THANK YOU
Val
Dee I would love to have some of your poppy seed for my mom. She has been looking for some for a while and hasn't been able to find any. Thanks!
I just finished a course on Poison Plants. The teacher said that it is illegal to grow these "Bread" poppies. Not to have the seed, as they are used in food, but to grow them since opium is made from the pods. But, really now, does law enforcement have time to chase a buncha gardeners, most of then with white hair? I have grown them for years. Not to worry. You would probably get in deeper trying to buy 3 packs of antihistamine.
Crystal: LOL!
Actually though , they can arrest you for growing them , they rarely do , In Indianapolis during the 70's and 80's . It was not unusual to be jailed for growing them .
It was common , if the enforcement got curious , in other words if you were up to something criminal as suspect ,, They would get you for that and anything else
It was the thing , you know ,, about when the powers get to interested in you , you all know the routine behavior

LOL @ Crystal! Those seed heads are so cool Dee. I'm off to read a publication...
I think I'll keep them in my garden that you can't see from the road, as if anyone around here knows what an opium poppy looks like anyway. So far the deer don't eat haven't eaten them either, that's a plus as my whole yard isn't fenced, just the areas with the deer food plants in them, LOL.
If I get arrested it will probably be my fifteen minutes of fame as I have no doubt I'd be on the front page of the local paper. I think I'd like to avoid that.
lol Dee. Yeah I think you might want to avoid the front page for sure!
