Hi Community. I bought Cactis 2 months ago They were Green. But now they are Yellow/Red Soft n smaller .What is the reason ? Underwater ? Or Overwater ?Images are attached below 1old Pic vs New Pictures
Help Cactus are Getting yellow/red and Soft.
What kind of light have these plants been getting? How hot has it been? How often are you watering?
From your pictures it looks like they are potted in heavy soil--maybe with clay?
Maybe just soil from your garden?
This kind of soil does not drain well--if at all.
My guess is that the roots are rotting away because of this and the
plants are slowly dying.
Cacti and succulents need a very well-draining soil--like a sandPerlite mix
with a bit of airy potting MIX (NOT soil) in it.
You can find cactus Soil in Nurseries or Big Box Stored in their garden dept.
I would take them out of the soil you have them planted in--shake off any
of the soil, or wash it off, trim away all soft, brown, rotten parts of the roots--
let the plants dry off completely. Treat the root area with a Fungicide powder--
sometimes sold for dusting bulbs--and then re-pot them in propper soil for Cactus.
Someone else will give you more specific information on this, I am sure.
I do not grow succulents or Cactus. Gita
edited to say--I hope all your pots have drainage holes on the bottom as well...
that is of utmost importance.
