I planted alyssum from flats last week. The stems have stated turning dark purple. Does anyone know why and what i need to do.
alyssum stems turning purple
Depending on the name of the Alyssum, some do produce purple stems, some even have a tiny dot of purple in the centre of the little flowers, Keep in mind, the little plants you have so far are still trying to build up a root system as well as form flowering buds AND become accustom to the new environment, temp etc.
IF the foliage and stems are still growing OK, I would just care for the plants with water when required
Give good EVEN light and DON'T offer any feed till the little plants have made enough roots to be able to take up a diluted half strength.
Unless you notice any disease, mould or wilting (When you know they dont need water, then assume the plants are growing healthy and will start to put on more growth over the next few weeks.
If still not happy, then a picture of the little plants would be even more helpful.
Kindest Regards.
WeeNel.
