way too many sow bugs

I recently emptied a compost bin into my garden and the amount of sow bugs was alarming. Are they good bugs, neutral or "bad" bugs?

Good old wikipedia says they're mostly good, and "valued for their role in producing compost and overturning the soil." But they can sometimes dig into ripening strawberries and tender seedlings. Thanks for making me look this up! Now I won't be worried about the critters when I see them.

I bet your sow bug colony disperses or dies off when there's less dead organic material to feed on, or when things get dryer. I guess I wouldn't worry about it unless you see actual damage that you're pretty sure is their fault.

They will chew the top off of small seedlings. They are not allowed in my garden.
