As a complete novice, I am attempting to build a container garden and need all the help and advice I can get. About 2 weeks ago I bought 2 dwarf apple trees. I have planted them each in a half barrel container, drilled drainage holes in the bottom and fitted casters to ease movement.I filled with one bag of John Innes No.3, added a few handfuls of organic chicken pellets and filled each of the containers with another full bag of JI No.3. I now fear that the containers are too large and I shouldn't have added the chicken pellets? Can anyone advise me if I have done this entirely wrong and should I lift them and start again?
Dwarf Apple Trees
Well, it seems silly to me that they even sell castors (wheels?) for these barrels. They can get very heavy, even if you use the lightest soil.
That size container is good for dwarf fruit trees, I would not go any smaller.
I thought John Innes was in the UK? Have you found a source in CA?
Anyway, read the ingredients in the product. From what I can see it is a complete soil for containers, and has some fertilizer. Perhaps the chicken pellets were not needed.
Thought you were asking about Mini fruit tree's, opened the link thinking you were showing some pictures of your fruit tree's to find your just another scam, trying to sell bunches of flowers.
This is NOT a site for any businesses to ply their trade to unsuspecting gardeners, However I feel sure your post, like your business will be short lived.
