Hi everyone,
My dypsis lutescens has dark green, dry leaves with brown tips and the plant looks dry in general.
I water when the soil on top feels dry (~every 2 weeks), until the entire pot is wet and I let it drain. The plant is a few feet away from the window, so no direct sunlight. The temperature is between 65° and 70° I'd say.
I don't know if I should water more or less or what else could cause the plant to look like this. And can brown or dark spots become healthy again?
Thank you in advance for your tips!
Areca palm dying? Please help :(
Are you checking deep into the soil when you test for dry?
Not very deep.. So could the plant look like that because the soil is too wet a the bottom? I'd heard about that so I didn't water the plant for a month or so after I bought it. But now I'm not sure if I dried it out or still watered too much..
I would suggest you check that. Perhaps put something in the bottom of the decorative container to hold the real pot up for better drainage.
I have seen these grown in 3/8" chunks of lava. No soil. They get better drainage that way.
Okay I'll try that, thank you!
