Why do indoor plants die?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Hi jo. There are a lot of reasons indoor plants die. Sometimes they get too much or too little water, too much or too little light, the temperature is too cold or too hot for them. The roots can be crowded in the pot so that the plant needs repotting.

Where do you put your plants?

I think a big reason is that it is too dry!

And tapla would say, because the roots drown. (Lack oxygen.)

If they are dead in a week, maybe they are already badly treated when you buy them, I've had that happen often. Sellers can force plants to look green and lush with hormones and chemicals, but the plant may be exhausted,

Dying within a week could be caused by suddenly baking in too much sun. Much more info is needed to know what might have happened to your plants. You may spot the problem (or combination of several) by reading the sticky at the top of this forum.

Technically, indoor plants die for the same reason most plants die - they lapse into the trend of using more energy than they are able to produce.

Stress occurs when plants are operating at or near the limits they were genetically programmed to tolerate. Strain occurs at the point where they start using more energy than they are producing; and strain, unchecked, always leads to death of any organism.

Our job, as growers, is to identify those things that are limiting our plants and eliminate those limitations to the greatest degree possible. That ability, to identify and eliminate, is what defines our ability/proficiency as growers.

As Tiffany mentioned immediately above, the sticky thread at the top of the forum is a good place to learn how to avoid ALL of the most common problems beginners and experienced growers are most likely to encounter.

I've heard plants chanting this, I swear!

It means what your plant looks like is pretty much a mirror image of its roots' state of health.
