Hi, i live in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic . I was given a group of hippeaatrum bulbs ( see picture).I think They have rcently been dug up from the ground to give to me. what should i do to have them flower faster. Should i plant them now? Or should i store them dry for a few weeks? We dont have very defined seasons here, although definetly cooler in winter so im not sure how to follow seasonal advice on gardening. Thanks,
David
Hippeastrum bulbs
Do you have a cool, dry, dark place they could be stored? Optimum temperature between 4-13 deg C. Store them there for a month or so, then pot them up and bring them into the light and warmth.
Yes. I could store them in a dry place at about 18 but for 5 or 6 degrees i could put them in the refrigerator
They cannot handle freezing. You should probably do more research to confirm, but I think the fridge is a good place. Make them think that winter has happened.
great .. Thanks...
thanks for the info
