Hello,
Every year I try to plant something new. This year I'm going to attempt to grow sweet potatoes - I think. I live in MA so I don't have a long growing period. Has anyone attempted to do the same in this part of the country? Any suggestions?
Thanks
Kevin
Growing Sweet Potatoes in MA?
I'm in Minnesota. Growing season is May 15 to Sept 15.
I plant sweet potatoes around June 1st. No problem with them.
Huge crop this past summer. Some were near 2 lbs.
Thank you. Any growing secrets? Do you grow your own slips or purchase them? How much room should I allow? I grow butternut squash and cukes that end up taking up a lot of space.
Thanks again.
Kevin
I plant on plastic mulch. 2 ft apart in the row. Rows could be 3 ft apart.
I plant slips from Scott Farms. Google them. You need to order in maybe January & give them a ship date.
Just stick them in the ground & keep the weeds out.
