Dear wise gardeners,
I just moved into Menlo Park, California (USDA hardiness 9b) and am finally able to graduate from potted plants to a raised garden. I would like to plant/sow some winter crops. I am thinking some carrots, parsnips, beets, but also some greens like kale, spinach etc. Is it too late/early to start? Most seed packets say 3 weeks before last frost, and that seems to be around early Spring?
Thanks!
Planting/sowing in December in Northern California
I used to live not far from your area. A lot of cool weather crops will grow well in your climate but seeds generally like warm soil in order to sprout. Have you ever tried winter sowing?
