Gulf Rose Plum pollinator question

Green Cove Springs, FL(Zone 9a)

Am I required to have another gulf type plum or can I use Santa Rosa? I am just starting a plum orchard with my first 4 trees. There Are 3 gulf rose and one Santa Rosa.

Contra Costa County, CA(Zone 9b)

From what I read the best pollinators for plums are other varieties with similar chilling requirements.

Most of the Gulf series have quite low chilling hours (250 hours seems common)
Santa Rosa requires 600 hours, so probably won't pollinate any of the Gulf series.

There sure may be exceptions to this.

Also, some of your neighbors may already have some plums that will pollinate yours. Honeybees will very willingly fly 1/4 mile to a mile, and can fly farther if there is nothing in bloom closer. Suggesting that in the average residential neighborhood the honeybees can find yours and the neighbor's plum trees and get the job done.

Obviously if you are way out away from any neighbors, or surrounded by orchards of some other crop then you are right to worry about pollination.
