Hi,
I created an earlier post regarding my "mother plant" school is still out on that thread... but I have a ton of cuttings off of it. I just don't know enough about the plant to determine if I cut off perfectly healthy but stressed floppy arms, or if it was infested, diseased etc. I have read they are "easy" to start... with conflicting instructions as to how best go about it. Some say let the cut heal, such as a prickly pear edge, then plant. Others say just stick in the dirt and watch it grow. I would love to hear from anyone that has this same plant.
These were left to scab as I was unsure what to do. Below are photos of the actual cuttings, and of the mother plant today. A lot of the cuttings appear fine and are all green, some have a reddish coloring at the ends - one of the reasons I cut it off, although I am not certain I needed to.
If anyone can share information about this plant on the following:
1- Is the reddish/cream on the stems a sign of disease? If so, what is the issue and how should I address it?
2- Should I try to grow the cuttings? If so, what is the best approach?
3- I was told this is a great indoor plant, should I put the cuttings indoors? I recently moved the entire plant outdoors (not in direct sunlight) it is in a protected north-facing courtyard getting bright shade and a tiny bit of morning sun if any.
4- Even though I live in Arizona, it is still 9b. I live in the foothills and usually get a dusting or two of snow each winter... do I need to cover the plant ?
Thank you so much!
