Hey everyone, a day or so ago I posted asking for an ID on some wild strawberries I found. After closer investigation I think I may have found wild woodland strawberries. I already have some confirmed viginia strawberries in my garden, so I wanted to know if the two could breed and if their berries would be worthwhile.
If anyone has ever heard of or tried this let me know.
Will these two strawberry strains breed?
Only if there is a mutual attraction...
Kidding aside, are they in close vicinity of each other? Do they bloom around the same time? Will you hand pollinate them, harvest the seed, and grow them if they produce viable seed? What are you aspirations for this? Anyway it may be possible but I don't know if they are compatible or not.
Here is a forum that talks about crosses between different plants that may be of some interest.
