Golly ... both of those are gorgeous, ladies. I have never tried cuphea, I don't think I'd be that patient LOL
I found some pics of blooms I sent ya all some seeds of two years ago..
too cold and windy to go out today, was slammed at work, and can't sleep/ *sigh*
Morning Glories 2014 #15
Pretty mutant or DFNM look a like Helena. Interesting bloom on that Cuphea.
I like all the Cupheas.
Those were great blooms Debra. The 1st one reminds me of the lovely bloom I have'going on now from one of your mixes. The 2nd one is a beauty, # 4 reminds me of the Weird Saz,
a purple bloom that I 1st grew in 2010.
Nice blooms everyone!
What is the recipe for the listerine spray please?
Thanks ladies.
Love all those pretty blooms Debra.
Linda, I'll let Jackie give us the Listerine recipe just to make sure if it's straight or need to be diluted (genetic Listerine).
We had lots of rain last evening and night, a cold front come through so I'm really surprised at the bloom from one of my ip. indica. The bloom is much darker than the picture shows and another nice bloom from another vine. Guess they needed a good watering.
Ah, the joys of rain power! Those are very pretty!
I indica is gorgeous , Helena. Your middle one is very pretty with the light and dark patterns.
Is the last one a Wine and Roses?
At 1st I diluted my generic listerine, but now I just pour it straight into my hand sprayer bottle.
I never see any leaf damage from the listerine. I use it for spider mites too but it has to'be reapplied.
Test it on anything you want to test it on. Ive sprayed my plumeria lvs with it and brug lvs too and at times, my mg lvs. Just did not keep up with it, too much here for me to do
Now heres a new use for you to try it. Spray your shower with full strength listerine on any mildew, let it sit 5 minutes or so, then wipe with a scrubber sponge that doesn;t scratch. So its'a great cleaner too .It will get rid of fungus toenails too, just soak your tootsies in it.
Helena, beautiful indica, not a single bloom from mine this season.Love your
pretty blue and pink blooms too. They love the warm rain, it would have helped keep the'bugs off my vines but I got tired of carrying them back and forth cause of the storms earlier in the summer,

Thanks for the info. I will go get some and give it a try.
Thanks everyone.
Debra, I don't know the name for the pink bloom. I think the cold weather made it have a extra darker color.
Another bloom from the pink but hard to focus. I'm so proud of my nicotiana glauca (yellow tree tobacco) I started from seed. A good hummer nectar plant, I have quite a few seedlings that are much smaller, will keep growing them in green house until spring when I'll have to find sunny well drained spot for them to go into.
Helena, good job on that! I love growing things from seeds. My patience level does seem to wan tho, if it grows , gets big, and does not flower. I have five seedlings of turks caps, three of datura metel purple ballerina, and three of white ruella, two seedlings of white passion vine that finally popped up ( since March in seed tray? ) I am excited also that I have three white obedient plant seedlings ( from seed)
This am I had a bloom on the inside vines. It looks like PPV, I thought it would be PB. *sigh*
Debra, Wine and Roses closed up for me by 1130 am every day when I grew it, so haven't grown it again. so if Helenas' closes uo extra early, could be a sign its a W and R.
Pretty pink bloom Helena, whatever it is. Nice Tree tobacco too.
Debra, my PB made lots of seeds, so let me know if you need more. I'll probably include
them in your envelope anyway, :-)
Thanks Debra and Jackie. Debra, I have to have patience since it's kind of my fault for keeping the seedlings in small pots when I should have transplanted them either in the ground or into bigger pots. I'm starting more salvias seeds now, thought they would germinate better with cooler weather and will be ready to go outside by spring.
You have a lot of seedlings and a real green thumb for growing lots of interesting plants. Part of the fun is having lots of different plants blooming.
I wish mine pink bloom was Wine and Roses but I really don't think it is Jackie.
beautiful, Helena.. My CR is really going to be late, I had to cut it down just to get it inside. It is huge. I think I should send it away.. LOL
is that second bloom china doll?
Love your lite pink bloom Helena, Pink Porcelain cross??
My dbl blue Clitoria has not bothered to bloom yet, :-(
Crazy about your Conf Rose. I just potted up my 2 which were both still in the same pot.
Deb, I think Helenas 2nd pic is her Conf Rose turning pink.
The one I had long ago always bloomed this late, a fall bloomer just barely blooming b4 the 1st frost. I always greenhoused mine but I intend to grow one of these in the ground starting next spring. Too late to plant it this yr, roots won't be deep enough to survive winter. Mine are from
seeds that Helena was kind enough to share with me.
DH never did plant my dwarf pomegranate so it looks horrible.I just potted it up along with the 2Conf Roses.
Jackie I have a huge Confederate Rose ready to plant now, it is a really big root system, let me send it to you LOL
Very thoughtful of you Debra but I'll pass. lol
Has anybody ever tried confederate roses from seeds ... they are so tiny!
A good address !

I have tried growing roses from seed, but nothing ever grew from them!
Love all those morning glories!
Dany, Jackie got at least 2 seeds to germinate from the Confederate Rose. It seems that there are hundreds of tiny seeds in one pod. My plant goes dormant in winter, I don't think it dies back b/c it has protection from a few trees. I have a neighbor that grows them and always cuts the top branches, the trunk is big and it never dies back either.
Linda, I've gotten rose seeds to germinate. I think most roses need to have at least 6 weeks of cold weather to help them germinate. I open the rose hip and clean the seeds then place in pot with label, regular dirt in pot with sand on top of seeds. Leave it outside during the winter, check on it during spring. The seedlings are tiny and hard to recognize sometimes. I've plugged one or 2 out thinking they were weeds, lol.
Loved that Asagao site Dany, Beautiful blooms!
Debra, that 2nd lite pink bloom is Blushing Bride! It could have been mistaken for pink porcelain cross Jackie but I have 2 vines in that pot and remember it having beige seeds. Just glad it can still make a bloom this late.
Only 2 blooms for today. A no ID and ip indica.
That may be my problem, it may not be cold enough for the time needed?
Linda, Confederate Roses are not roses. That is the common name of a lovely Hibiscus,
a large shrub that is late fall blooming; the blooms so large they look like roses. :-) Look at Helenas pics about 10 posts up.
They always cause quite a stir here when in bloom. I don't see as many around town now as I used to see.
I've lost some lvs on mine, left it in the house too long.
My small CR, Hope it will grow now that it has its own pot.
Helena, crazy about that 1st bloom, its gorgeous.

Oh my. I saw that and assumed it was a beautiful rose. Glad you cleared that up for me.
Love your blue morning glories.
Thanks Linda.
When I hit the go back button, it doesn't work while at Daves Garden. I have to click out of the picture link I'm on. Just started a few days ago. Is it DG or my computer??
When I click on a picture, it opens in a new window.
Linda, I only knew something had changed. Wish I was more computer literate. :-)
Thanks Jackie. Jackie, your confederate rose looks great and I love your HB. I looked for the CR from my 2 neighbors and they are blooming now.
Didn't have time to check my mgs yesterday morning, running to watch my g-kids play soccer, but when I checked late afternoon found ip. indica changing colors before closing, (2nd pic)
Only had one bloom from no ID mg this morning.

Those are pretty Helena!
Beautiful MG's this morning Helena.
Sure made for a lovely picture Dany.
I'll say! Those are beautiful!
very very nice blooms from all of you today. Spent weekend up in Eskridge Ks with a fellow DG'r it was a nce break. Does ANYONE want a large confederate rose? LOL
Debra, those might root in a cup of water in the window. I just cant remember if its as easy as rooting a Brug. Try some cuttings so that you can start over with a smaller plant.
Beautiful bloom this morning Helena, love the color.
I like the large blue ones in Dany's post.
Thanks ladies. No mgs today.
I rooted my confederate rose cuttings when the neighbor was cutting hers back years ago. I just placed the cutting in a gallon pot with dirt and covered with a 2 litter soda bottle with about 2 inches cut off the bottom. It makes a nice little greenhouse dome to keep the moisture in. If it gets too warm or with new growth showing you can remove the cap off. I root lots of cuttings that way.
