Pollinating

dubai, United Arab Emirates

I got this new lovely hibiscus which blooms quite well but the flowers fall off the next day and so does the calyx. It doesn't inflate and form seeds.

I tried hand pollinating the stigma pads with pollen dust collected on a cotton bud but didn't work so far. Is there a technique that I need to follow, am I doing something wrong? Whats the best time to do this, after the pollen has dried or while it is still in the pollen sacs?

Also, I have noticed a few tiny microscopic red ants around the buds during early morning and late evening hours, could that affect seed formation?

Can you open the green pod type bit you have in your hand as this is where any seeds would normally be stored IF nature had done it's job and pollination had taken place.
I know a lot of plant breeders who want to cross pollinat for new strains of plants, to make their own preferential choice, they cover the flower heads with a paper bag to keep any pollinating insects off the flowers so these insects dont get to pollinate before the grower has his 2 flowers at the right stage.
Maybe this will be more helpful too.
Kindest regards.
