This 5 year old Tibouchina lives close to the east side of the house in Central Florida just SE of Orlando. It bloomed nicely the first three years, then was killed back by cold 2 winters ago. It grew back to 6' tall x 5' wide last summer, with just a very few blooms in late summer.
Last winter I pruned it back and it has again grown to 6' x 6', but no buds at all yet this year. It has been a very rainy & wet summer, and I have fertilized a couple of times.
Not sure which variety. It has a woody stem with 4 ridges. The leaves are long with tiny thorns along the veins underneath. Beautiful plant - very full and healthy looking - but I miss the flowers!
