So even though I'm an experienced gardener...on my way home after buying a Syneilesis aconitifolia...the plant tipped over and snapped off it's only leaf. So! What I'm wondering is, what odds of it's survival do you give it? I live in Oregon (zone 8) so this plant has at least 3 months until the first frosts start so maybe it will have time to grow a new one? Or perhaps nothing will happen until next spring at which point it may put up a new leaf to signal it doesn't hate me anymore. Please give me your thoughts so I don't get my hopes up.
Syneilesis aconitifolia
Just plant it out... it has loads of time to produce a new leaf or more, if it's inclined to. Given that it only had one leaf, it sounds like a young plant. Could be, as you also note, that it won't be compelled to do so until spring, who knows?
Anyway, there's really nothing you can do to influence it one way or the other.
