Anybody know what moth will this be?

Found this marching across the gravel behind my chicken coop under maple trees. Does anybody know that this is?

Aha, found it! It's a Hickory Horned Devil (citheronia regalis) that turns into a Royal Walnut moth. There are bunches of black walnut trees in the back of my place. My brother said they would defoliate my Catalpa tree quickly. Anybody have any experience with these? Are they a problem?

All I know is that is a seriously cool looking creature. I looked up pictures of the moth, it is also gorgeous.

I don't have experience with that particular caterpillar, but as a general rule, caterpillars (and other insects) aren't a problem unless there is a unnatural abundance of them, such as when a non-native species is introduced. I would suggest not worrying about a problem unless you have one. A few lovely caterpillars and moths are a joy, so enjoy them.
