I have tried looking this up, kinda looks like a scale, but nothing matches quite right. I just noticed it last few days. I live in Wisconsin. This is not a big tree, and it is only on select brances at this time. Please also let me know if you have an idea of what I am to do about this.....Thanks so much!!
What is white on underside of Nannyberry Viburnum branches?
Is that branch still alive? Green leaves at the ends?
Looks like a fungus.
yes, leaves are green - some starting to turn color. And now that I've looked closer it is probably on 1/3 to 1/2 of the branches to some extent......
Odd. I am used to seeing that on dead branches, the fungus has moved in after it died.
Maybe look into some of the slime molds, too.
