Can someone please tell me why new shoots on my Prayer Plant are yellowing and unhealthy? It seems to be coming from just one "stem" -- I hope this is all making sense. I love this plant and don't want it to start dying. The rest of it looks good. It's just new shoots aren't surviving.
Prayer Plant sprouts unhealthy shoots
When a Prayer Plant yellows, it’s frequently because of environmental problems, but a few diseases and pests might also be the culprit. Chlorosis, too bright light and fungal diseases are some reasons that can happen.
They need a lot of water, but should not stand in water. The water needs to be fresh. I would trim off the yellowing parts and let the soil go just a bit drier.
When you water, soak the soil well, then remove the water that drains out of the pot. Allow just the surface to start to dry before watering again.
Standing water is low in oxygen, and especially the water trapped in the soil. There is not enough oxygen in the soil to keep the roots healthy.
