I am re-laying my yard with augustine sod there are some remnants of old sod still there at some places although i have tried to start from as much scratch as possible
so, what is happening at some locations is that the main sod area is nicely prepared, but at the sod edges, the edge comes over previous grass i have tried to push it hard manually to ensure contact plenty of water do you think these edges will latch on to the underneath grass/soil thank you
st augustine grass sods
I'm not fully understanding BUT, IF it is the case there is a gap between the new sod and the old soil where the previous lawn grew, then all you can do is fill in the gap below the new sod and the soil it's supposed to be growing it's roots into, the sod roots wont be able to grow in fresh air, so make sure you add compost or soil to make sure it touches the underside of the sod.
Hope this is what you needed help with.
Good luck and kindest Regards.
WeeNel.
Make a vertical cut at the edge of the remaining good sod so that when the new sod butts up to it there will be no gap, and you do not have to mash the new sod to make it fit.
In other words, cut out a shallow square edge so the new sod lies down in its natural shape, leaving no gap between old and new.
