Any NARGS members here?

If you are a member, please let me know by posting here or via e-mail. I am looking for some specific seeds and NARGS is one of the FEW sources of them (commercial sources don't exist.) I could really use your help!

Alright GV, in an effort to show my ignorance, I am going to reply here. LOL I did a search of NARGS and came up with rock gardening. Is that what you want? If so, I don't belong to the society but do have seeds and plants from some lists I found. What is it you are looking for?
Hopefully not embarrassed :)

Michele, a year ago I would have never known what NARGS was either, nor would I have had the slightest interest in it, even if someone had told me. After all I don't "DO" rock gardening, LOL!

But...their seed exchange lists quite a collection of wildlfower seeds. And here's the deal - I am looking for Marshallia grandiflora seeds (and a few others, but that's the main one I'm trying to find right now.)

I can buy plants from a few sources, but they run $6-$8 per plant. This perennial is on many states endangered species lists, AND it is classified as easy to grow from seed.

I've been interested in this plant for quite a while, but after discovering that many of my usual plant sources are sold out, it's getting tougher to even find a plant to buy. So I thought if I could find some seeds, I could grow it myself, share the seeds through trading next year.

When I hit a brick wall with commercial seed sources, I started scouting out the seed exchanges, and NARGS seed exchange was one of two I found that actually listed it. (I'm looking into the other one, but I'm not having much luck there either.) I thought if I could find a NARGS member, I can perhaps arrange a trade if they can obtain some seed through their exchange.

Thanks, MaVieRose! Actually a very funny thing happened to me yesterday. I happened to go into eBay (I NEVER go to eBay - too dangerous for me :) and did a search in their plants/seeds for this plant, never seriously expecting to find it.

Lo and behold - an auction for some Marshallia seeds was underway, set to expire in 4 hours. The only other bid was for $.79. I put in a bid for $.05 more, and won last night!!!

I'm very excited to try growing these seeds, and if they are as easy to grow as most sources indicate, to share them next summer/fall with anyone else who would like to grow an interesting, endangered wildlfower in their garden :)

Now my search turns to Trichostema (Blue Curls) and Rhexia (Meadow Beauty)...
