Hi !
I'm in Michigan and we're having a cooler then normal summer. My garden looks ok- seems to be well established, things are growing and looking strong for the most part- but the actual amount of vegetables I've been able to harvest has been pretty pathetic ! 2 Zukes, maybe 5 Cukes, 5 or 6 peppers.. and I have at least 4 plants of each. So-- my question is... what gives? Could it be the weather?
Cooler weather = blah garden?
Cooler weather = WONDERFUL GARDEN!
But....you'll need to change over to your fall/winter veggies......go with the (air) flow...
Start some cole crop seedlings in a space in your garden. At the very least, they'll take off and be ready to transplant to other locations just when your weather really begins to change.
perhaps also do something to lure in more pollinators for the things that are currently growing (like setting pots of flowers near them that bees and other pollinators simply cant resist)
I already have some cold weather stuff started.... But I'm pretty bummed about my lack of warm weather stuff. I wanted mountains of zucchini!!
We've only had a few 90 F. days here so far, it's definately a mild summer. Tomatoes are taking forever to ripen. Dino Kale doing great though! Carrots too. Sweet and Red onions did o.k.
