Geraniums, how to I keep them for next spring! Won't they get leggy?
My places to store them are either going to be too hot (zone10) or too cold (zone7a)
WINTEROVERING
Are these true Geraniums, the species, or are these one (or more) of the Pegargoniums that have the common name Geranium?
If Pelargonium, I would take cuttings, and keep them over the winter in the warmer location, in 1 gallon cans. As much sun as you can give them.
If these are the true species Geranium you might still take cuttings, or can up some that have rooted where they touch the ground. Alternatively, you can dig them and divide them. Either way, you could probably can them into 1 gallon cans and keep them out of the frost.
Whichever, I would try this, see if it works:
Build an arch, a box, a tent over the plants in the garden. Cover them with clear plastic. See if that is enough to see them through the winter. But just in case, take good care of the cuttings.
