Need advise...

My daughters office is trying to figure out what to do with this plant. What is it and should they cut off old leaves?

I would separate those plants.
The mostly green leaf plant with some red leaves is one of the bromeliads. They grow in fairly rich soil, and need good drainage, but moist soil. Something like coarse bark chips is usually in their soil mix. Often the cup in the center should be filled with water.
These plants will flower, then the plant will die. Before it dies it will send out a lot of little plants from the base. The usual care for these is to detach them from the mother plant and pot them up into their own pot. Allow the mother plant to die when you have removed the pups, that is normal for it.

The other plant, sort of grey tone to the leaves is some kind of succulent. While there are exceptions, the first way I would approach caring for most succulents is fast draining soil like a sandy cactus mix. Water thoroughly when you do water, then wait for the soil to be fairly dry between watering.

Agree totally. The Bromeliad is a shade dweller.

The other two plants look like Kalanchoes. The bigger leaf one looks like paddle plant, AKA flapjacks. The other one, not sure on species, maybe K. tomentosa or eriophylla, could even be something like Echeveria pulvinata but by any name, both are succulents that will rot and die if kept too moist. They like as much light/sun as possible.
