I have planted a Big LifeBerry and a Sweet Lifeberry Goji. Both plants are huge and very healthy. The Sweet has a ton of berrys. The Big does not have any berries. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Goji
Is this the first year you've had them? They bloom on new wood.
Yes, first year for each.
I dont know either of those fruits BUT, as a general rule, you dont want any fruit plant / shrub / tree's of any kind to give out fruit the first year,
From planting right through the first year you really want these fruiting plants / shrubs / tree's to settle into their new environment, put down good roots and healthy foliage, I even remove any new strawberries as they apear so the plants can build up energy and roots for the rest of their lifes.
In this first year, just get to know the plants, are they healthy, are they getting enough water, light, any bugs arriving and what month so you look out for these bugs the following year (bugs have a cycle for feeding, eating foliage, laying egg's ect and it happens each year the same month / season.
Make sure there is enough water reaching the roots, I like to dig and place a clear plastic juice container and insert this into the hole, narrow (cap end) down into soil, cut bottom off the container first, this container allows you to fill up with water a few times allowing water to reach the roots AND it's also a good way to get food directly to the root area when it's required.
After the container has been in use a few years, the plant / tree should be ready to be growing away on it's own without help, you can always replace the container IF needed.
Try be patient for the fruiting, these are still immature plants / tree's, not mature and ready for heavy fruiting, you will enjoy the friuts better knowing the plants are settled and ready to go for a lot of years to come.
Hope this helps you out a little.
Best Regards. WeeNel.
