Tomato plant withering

Moorestown-Lenola, NJ

It looks like it needs water.not so. Started with yellow leaves at base of plant.I see no insects or evidence of an invasion of the stem. The problem is progressing quickly. Help!

LJL2006, tomatoes often wither in the afternoon sun and then the leaves flatten out and look normal at night. However, if your tomato is yellowing and always looks crushed then I suggest watering it more often. When I grew a tomato plant in 2012 it was in part sun in zone 5b and I still had to give it a gallon of water every day. How often do you water the plant?

Also, tomatoes need plenty of fertilizer and rich soil. Is this a potted plant or growing in the ground? Did you add fertilizer? If you post a picture I might be able to help out more. Nancy G.

It could possibly be Fusarium wilt, a problem common to tomatoes and peppers..This link gives info on id-ing and controlling the problem.

Yellowing leaves is more likely overwater or Fusarium wilt. Ummm. If wilt it can spread and needs removed.
