ANY ADVICE FOR POWDERY MILDEW?

Osgoode, Canada

I noticed this morning powdery mildew on my zucchini plant and out of all my cuc plants there was one leaf affected (I removed the zucchini plant and the one cucumber leaf right away). Would you think I am safe because I reacted right away? I just don't want my whole crop to go downhill.
Thanks

Welcome to DG, Lyndsay!
In some of your previous posts (in other forums) you mentioned your cukes were very close together. One of the things that can cause powdery mildew is plants not having enough air circulation. If the other plants are still okay, you might consider separating them a little more or removing every other one and planting the ones you remove somewhere else.

There are sprays you can use and also some natural remedies you can make, but I'd probably separate them a bit then decide if anything else is necessary.

Hi! Ok. I know nothing about anything-- which is why I'm here reading posts-- but I do know about this- or at least what's worked for me because I've had this problem a lot. First, get rid of the leaves that are really bad- like totally covered and beyond help. Then use neem oil and coat the plant very well to runoff. Make sure you get the undersides of the leaves too. I've bought straight neem oil spray and I've gotten a spray that you attach to the hose that has neem oil as well as other things. Both seem to work great and I think my plants love them. Get a few bottles - because you need a lot and you'll need to treat the plant more then once. Good luck!

Diluted Milk works, too. Any kind of milk. In a sprayer bottle. Cover leaves top and undersides...
