I am having a problem with my Leucanthemum superbum, Shasta Daisy “Becky.” For the past two or three years right after bloom the stems began to yellow and they rotted near the crown. Last fall, I decided it might be disease in the soil, so I found a different spot in the border and purchased new plants. This week I had the same exact symptoms. Any ideas?
Shasta Daisey Problem
I know with my large Becky it needed to be divided but on top of that I think it had borers at the roots. There were tiny holes in the rhizomes that sit just under the surface of the soil. I removed the entire plant and chucked it. I do have another Becky and I'll be sure to properly maintain this one and be on the lookout for the same symptoms.
