About 20 years ago (no exaggerating), I bought a packet of Gloriosa Daisy Seed and I have had the daisy ever since. WHAT A BARGAIN!!! I just never know where they are going to come up. They don't like to be transplanted. But they always make a beautiful show. One of this years plants has white in its blooms and one had red in its blooms. Just wondering what it could have mixed with to turn out that color? Any thoughts?
Hard to say what they could have crossed with to produce those color combinations...maybe some other "wild" Rudbeckia in the area ?
Sometimes nature surprises us with a new strain, so you might try saving the seeds and see if they come true next year.
The one with the white on the petals is very cool !

Interestingly enough, someone on the Mid-Atlantic forum had the same thing happen this season.
The other one - with red in the bloom. I doubt they would have crossed with any of the wild ones, as there are none to speak of.
