Looking for help staying cool while spraying pesticides

Pittsburgh, PA

Hi folks-

I work for a commercial orchid grower and am studying to get my pesticide license. Right now, I'm just doing drenches under supervision, but I'm all suited up in PPE... Tyvek suit, goggles, and respirator (when needed).

I know those suits are hot for anyone, but I sweat pretty heavy as is, and I'm working in a greenhouse.

I'm looking for any tips or tricks you may have to keep cool(er), and maybe something to prevent the sweat from running into my eyes. I don't think I can wear a sweatband because the goggles.

Thanks!

They make products that can be chilled and draped around the neck, and hard hat liners for just that. You may be able to get them through your chemical vendor. If not, a bandana or small towel dipped in ice water, and wrung out helps. I don't see why you rule out a sweat band.

One of the safety supply places should have them if you have one close to you. Or order on line.
