Help. I have damaged romaine lettuce

Hi! so my romaine lettuce was growing beautifully then 5 ground hogs got in my garden and ate pretty much everything. My romaine plants are all half eaten, do I need to cut them down and will they possibly grow back? :(
I was so sad!!

They sure could! That is a standard way of harvesting some lettuce: Just take some leaves, and allow the center to regrow.

If the hogs destroyed the center but left some part of the junction between the root and the stem then the lettuce might make a poor recovery.
If the center is still intact, just damaged leaves then very good chance for excellent recovery.
