I'm quite worried about my tillandsia cyanea. I think it has finished flowering. I've read that after flowering, the plant dies but produces pups? The pink tongue bit has started to have brown patches on it. Does that mean the plant is dying, or is there something wrong with it?
I don't think it's producing a pup, but I'm not sure what a pup would look like. There are new leaves that have come up around the base of the pink tongue. Is it a pup that's growing?
Also, I'm not sure if I'm watering it correctly. I've been misting it, but avoiding the base. Sometimes I read you should avoid the base, other times I read you're meant to spray right into the base, so I don't know what to do.

A pup would look exactly like your Tillandsia cyanea only smaller and clustered around the base of the mother plant. They can be separated (carefully) from the mother plant and potted individually. They take quite awhile to root - up to six months. I spray the entire plant or soak it, shake it off and let it drain dry.
