WHAT'S HAPPENING TO MY VINCA ANNUALS?

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Will someone be please tell me what's going on here? The same thing happened last year to a few of them. This year, they are in a different spot and these are from a different retailer. Other ones I have are doing fine, very bizarre. The second picture is what eventually happens to the plants in the first picture.

I am not sure what is going on, but I would check out everything that is around the plant.

Is the soil a good blend of soil conditioner (or compost) and soil? Not too alkaline nor too acidic? Any recent pesticide (especially herbicide) history?
Is the water OK for them? Not salty, not too high in minerals? Is it well water?

Have you applied anything to the plant or the soil?

Are they planted too deep?

Did a heat wave happen right after planting, and maybe you were not fast enough with the water?

None of the above. The soil is fine. I think it's a disease or something from the grower.

Not much you can do about that.
Could the stores you bought them from have gotten them from the same wholesaler?

Is it planted in full sun or shade?, because vincas love sun and the heat. I have been sowing seeds that I collected from my garden for the past two years and I usually planted them in full sun and never had a problem with them. One year they self seeded and I transplanted them. This year some are in hanging baskets on side of the yard that get morning sun , I will observe them to see if they do well in that area.
