ID help needed, please, for this bronze Iris

poole, United Kingdom

Just moved and this Iris is in the garden. It is a stunning colour, almost luminous but I can't seem to find the name for it. It is about 30 inches high. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

If you look up Bearded Iris, then maybe there will be a picture of the same, We have the exact same colour / type growing here in UK, Unfortunately the names will be different in USA, I was informed from a Rose breeder that some names used here, don't travel well to other countries, make of that what you like, LOL, but anyway, I feel sure there will be an Iris forum here on the site, worth checking, maybe someone will have the same strain as yours and know the name.
Anyway, it really is a lovely strong healthy looking plants so take care of it and you may be able to propagate baby or cuttings from the one you have,
If you have a plant you love, it's always worth keeping several others from that plant just encase you loose the one you love to look at.

Best of luck and kindest Regards.

Thank you, WeeNel. I have a collection of Irises so have tried the usual searches but just can't hit on this one, it was already in the garden when we moved. Some are near but not quite right. Just hoping someone has the same one and then Bingo !!

Have you tried searching any Plant Encyclopaedias under Bearded Iris, If it's been around for a long time, perhaps all the new modern ones have knocked it of the more EASY to find lists that say garden centres have just because they go to growers who will only supply a few of each type of Rose, Iris, ect.
Another place to search would be Iris growers they have catalogues, pictures to match, now everyone has computers, search for the Iris breeders NOT just UK. there are many from Holland, France, Mount Stewart house and garden is either Dublin or Belfast area, IF they don't have the exact plant to match yours, call them and ask IF you sent a picture could they help BUT ask then to send their catalogues.
The other place MIGHT be a help is one of the huge garden shows, you know the ones that are around the country all summer, IF you search the different shows on line, they normally or used to have a list of exhibitors and the plants they will have with them on there display.
You can then find where these plants people are from and probably even address and Email addresses too.
It's laborious but we took over an old overgrown garden with ruined house, removed ruin and built our home, I used winter to do research for plants by sending off for catalogues and searched the net, it took a lot of time but was great because I could not work in the garden and those catalogues are fab winter reading and dream makers too, got countless plant lists that still have not been used up yet.
I will hold onto the thread you have with picture and IF find anything like it, will get back to you.
Hope this gives more room for thought.
Let me know if you get lucky.
Best regards.
WeeNel.

Hi paxvobiscum, been trying to get some Iris for you to check up on.
Did a search for Bearded Iris Growers and had a quick look. Now your turn.

www.claireaustin-hardy plants .co.uk
Iris "Dude Ranch"
Iris "Golden Panther"
Iris "Lovely Senorita"
All looked a close match to yours BUT, remember that ALL flowers as they bloom have slight changes to flower colours either a deeper tone or very pale as the flowers age so, don't know what stage the flowers were when you snapped your picture BUT you are more used to the flower than I.

www.irisofsissinghurst.com
Iris "Lord Warden"
Iris " Rocket" This maybe NOT yellow enough ?????

www.woottensplants.com
Iris "Germanica Cable car" (yeh !!!! that's the name LOL)
Iris "Germanica Fue de Ciel"
Iris Germanica Tabac Blond".

Have a close look and also remember there is an Iris growing site here on Dave's, maybe they can help you out too, the folks on that forum Site, will be like this one were on, they will come from all over the globe.

When you log on and see the FORUM search, scroll down alphabetical and you will see Iris.
I will continue to have a look though and maybe even do a personal email via Dave's as I'm sure people will get fed up with my Iris searches LOL.
By the way I searched TALL bearded Iris but don't really know the height of your.
Best of luck. WeeNel.
