SHOOTIN THE BREEZE WITH DG BUDS

I thought it was just me, glad to hear its not. It's not usually humid here but wow it's bad this year. Last night I was putting EBs together at 9 pm. Everyday I think I'll go out later but I only last for a few minutes. I don't mind gardening in the morning but I feel more like its something I have to do rather then want to. We all have enough of that stuff. Lol

Skeeters are awful, the polywogs are thick as skeeters, and their mudpuddle is shrinking extremely fast, You step outdoors and turn as wet as Niagara Falls on your body. Cleaned and filled my feeders, but dont think hummers like that concentrated stuff as well as the little bags of sugar nectar. Butterflys showed up, the Black monarchs I have seen 2 here- but have to go find their name

The skeeters are really bad. They don't like me but they still buzz me and I can't help but swat at them. They are even in the house, along with the scorpions. Lol

Ummm, guys? You do know that threads posted in this forum can find their way onto the internet? So Admin gave us 'Back Porch' for chatter and visiting?

Kitt, is the back porch forum no visible outside of DG?

Kitt, there's one I want to delete. Assuming I can delete it, would it still somehow be in Google's display?

Thats technical over my head stuff, couple us oltimers use Back Porch for shootin the breeze and Parkin lot, sorry for the wakeup blast. I suspect it is why the forums stay so quiet and off the grid...

ALERT! Not only is what Kitt said true but worst of all, a search on Google can take anyone to your member pages (My Info and Preferences).

As close as I can tell Back Porch doesn't post, you might get us a link to a new thread there for chatter visits...

Wow, I thought it was general knowledge that everything posted on DG is visible on the Internet. I did a search a few years ago and found that out. The whole threads are visible but sometimes the info is good for others.

Kit, did admin notify you of this? Why wasn't anybody else notified?

That's cool if back porch doesn't show up online, but I don't ever post anything I would want to "take back" anyway LOL! I'm used to it having had a Facebook and before that a MySpace account.. try deleting all that crap! Just take my word, it was a major pain! You can't be too safe, spokeo is the site that got me started on wanting to delete my info from the web in the first place. So when I see people post their address right out in the open, I'm like whaaaaaa?? You crazy??

I caught the references reading around ol threads in the Back Porch where Dave sent members they thought were too noisy, so referred them there to the Back Porch to visit. Also Googling idly one day caught my handle popping up, terribly glad I used an avatar! Privacy instincts chuckle, We keep groups who have running threads and just perpetuate by links forward, my info is just a heads up for those who may not have known... No I just lucked into the info and figgered it a good topic for this thread..

I put a question to Terry about the Back Porch forum being or not being visible on google.
Let us see what she has to say.

FYI - I deleted one thing that I really wanted gone. If you google me, you'll see it but when you do an 'ordinary' click on it, it's gone. But if you choose to click via the 'cached' method, the deleted info is still there.

For the most part I don't care but there was one thing that I wish could be gone b/c it totally identifies me. I think I posted it shortly after I joined DG. I don't recall ever being warned that everything I post on DG is available to the public. One reason I joined was I wanted to read the posts on Texas Gardening which is a forum only available to paid members. (Of course I didn't know that I would later become a chatty cathy.)

And I really don't think member info and preferences should be public.

From now on, I might ask a question, but otherwise I'm going to shut my mouth. Hope D-Mail is private. Bye.

I've been out on vacation and then getting caught up here at work, so I'm late to this thread. I've mostly bee lurking about.

I don't think I'm too worried about anyone finding out what I have to say here on Dave's. I just googled me (my real name) and turns out I'm a British swimmer (who knew!). One would have to go page after page to get any mention of "me". So I'm just going to post away because it would take me a few years to get ahead of that swimmer LOL! My Dave's Garden name just brings up pic's I've posted. So could be worse ☺!

Look, for anyone doesn't know, google is the "spy"

I basically go by the rule of, if you don't want the
whole word to know something, don't put it online.

That is why people use pseudonyms, don't post
your address or phone , childrens names, your
age, your crimes, etc.

At any rate these things can be located, but not
as easily as as when you publish them yourselves.

I still want to know if the back porch forum is closed to the public.

Have discoverd the 'virus' that is bugging my computer- is Microsoft not supporting Windows7 so the spam filters and popup blocks dont work on anything but the brand new computers. oops time for me to roll. catch ya later

When you are NOT signed in as a DG paying member,
the Texas forum and all other "protected" private forums
are not visible.

If you are signed in to the site, and do a search, you will
see those private forums, because the cookies on your
computer recognize you as a paid member.

So never fear.

Kittriana, I also have windows 7, but I am not having
your problems. Have you updated to the latest version
of win 7 ?

I didn't get it myself at first.

I'm still using IE and while I don't have Microsoft support anymore. I really can't tell any difference. My pop up blocker and spam filters are working like they always have, and everything else is still working fine.

Tried to post earlier, but Wis doesnt always let me post even when I can read. thanx Jo. As I attempted to reply earlier... My laptops are only 6yrs old, but have so many ads being aimed at them that it is overpowering the spam filters and pop up blockers. MMy tech support tells me the only solution is to save to cd my pictures and data i need to keep( flashdrive wont woork) and change the hard drives out. sigh. 7 is as up as it allows. I hate telemarketers and ads SSOO bad.

It's raining here! Not even a chance of rain, until this evening. Lol

I know it, woke up to heavy rain at 5 am and it continued off and on until 9! Love it!

We picked up about a 1/4" of rain this morning. Unfortunately, it stopped.

We had 3 tenths of an inch, not much but better than nothing.

Going to get out and pull weeds while the ground is soaked. Sprinklers ran around dark yesterday then rain this morning!

We got 1 inch and still raining, Thank the Lord and Allellua!

Don't yet know how much rain here in Dallas. I know it started last night and was still going this morning. Yay!

Started raining again just after I first posted this. Double yay!!

It rained last night and this morning...supposed to storm this evening.

We picked up another inch or so overnight and early this morning. Hooray!! I hope we get more.

I went out and planted a couple of things from the RU and pulled some weeds. Also spent some time tying up some cucumber plants that got blown around by the wind when the storm came through.
