In Zone 6, NW New Jersey. At what month should self seeding nasturtium and morning glories appear? Impress of India nasturtium. Variety of morning glories: Heavenly Blue and Flying Saucer are two. My past experience with morning glories have been as prolific self seeders. Had luck with self sowing nasturtium in the past. Last year I planted a large bed of nasturtium. Didn't dead head. Buried seeds early spring, not fall. Same with morning glories seeds. Did a long, vicious winter kill them?
Self sowing Nasturtium and Morning Glories
Weather always plays a part for germination of seeds, either hot or prolonged cold, so does burying the seeds tooooo deep, so does too wet soil, however, here in Scotland, though not a particularly cold long winter, it's been so wet that the soil was useless to do anything in until just the last few weeks, so were way behind also,
I would wait a while longer as it's not end of May yet, if germination does come, nature has it's own way of doing catch-up better than any humans can manage.
Take good care and enjoy the season.
Best Regards. WeeNel.
But every season is unique.
If it was wetter than normal they may have
rotted, it it was colder, they may just be waiting
to be sure to be sure it is time to emerge.
If you re really concerned, you might want to
poke around and see if, under the surface of
the soil, you can find any little sprouts.
