ROTFLOL They will keep till fall :) I looked around and just figured I left them there. I will look forward to getting them then :) Thanks :)
Post N. Central TX RU "What is this?" Thread
Yes, the quart size is rarely one for an over abundance. I have many 3" pots but the gallons and quarts along with the trays are some I would be willing to trade for at RUs. Thanks to those of you who shared with me. For once I managed to come home with much less than I brought!! I have so much more to thin out, so I need to start now digging and potting for the native plant sale!
LOL at Joan and her brain catcher!
For the record, Joan is not joking about needing a brain catcher. (Like that name for it, Sheila.)
Marty - I noticed that one of the plants you gave me has the tiny volunteer you mentioned somewhere in this thread. And I'm glad you told us about it b/c I would have plucked it out sooner or later. But it's so tiny. Seems like I ought wait awhile before giving it a home of its own. Do you really think I should up pot it now?
Stephanie - You told me something I should know about transplanting the Duelberg but not having my brain catcher on, I promptly forgot. Any chance you might remember what (if anything) you told me?
I did not get home with the pots for Gymgirl either. She is tending to family illness now so she told me it is no biggy but maybe I need one of those bandanas, too.
I know nothing about the Duelberg as I didn't bring any. Someone else will know, surely.
I think Sheila brought the Duelberg.
I brought three or four starts of the Augusta Duelburg (white) if that is what you ended up with. Just keep it in a shaded area until it begins to put on new leaves. Then you can bring it into sun. Mine is planted in full sun and spreads from roots. It needs thinned out much more, but I was late in getting my plants together.
Lol at the braincatcher! I could use one of those!
My buddy is already bringing me flats and pots to save for RU! She has an abundance of the 2.75 gal, I'll save as many as I can find room for :)
Marty, I have a ton of seedlings in my coral vine from you, wonder what they could be, there are at least 20 in the pot!
Got a plant Glory Bower and need to know where to plant.
Name covers a large base of plants.
Ted, If it is Clerodendrum, it is a full shade plant and it spreads by runners. Be prepared to corral it.
Can you tell me the color bloom. So many different ones. All I look at are too tender for zone 7a
Ted, it looks like Sheila had some glory bower at RU. If it's from her, this is the link from the trade thread:
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1253/
If that's the one from Sheila, be careful as it's a runner and spreads. Has a very lovely bloom, but they STINK and attract wasps and bees.
The bloom is Pink Ted.
I've always called it Mexican Hydrangea.
Ted - My guest brought some little starts of Rusty Blackhaw Viburnum and Mexican Buckeye. I only took the Rusty Blackhaw Viburnum and it kinda resembles that. But I'll leave it to someone with more knowledge of plants to give you an answer.
Ted, the clerodendrum has a pink bloom about 8" across and the plants get at least 6 feet tall here. You know you have it because the foliage smells like a big ole multi-vitamin.
Big day for me us all today. Someone in the next block apparently has done a lot of landscaping and they left close to 80 (yes, eighty) 3 gallon-size pots on the curb. Glad I saw them before trash was picked up today. Also got a number of the 4" pots, didn't count but definitely not as many as the 3 gallon ones. Since I know that I might use a few of the 3 gallon pots, all of the others will be available at the next RU.
Excellent!!!
That is absolutely wonderful. Thanks so much for looking out for all of us :)
@ TED......Yes the Glory Bower is from me. I got it in East TX from DeDe in Jacksonville. It began to be aggressive about the third year I had it. Up where you live now it may not be, but best to assume it would be since it was for DeDe. The sun was too much for it, stayed wilted looking. I kept it in a pot until I planted it in a raised bed, it gets very little sun so doesn't bloom for me now; it is coming out this year because of that. I never noticed it stinking when it bloomed as others said, but don't recall smelling it purposely either. The best one that looks like mine when it did bloom is Onalee's pic here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/140829/
right now, mine are just awesome! I saw twenty blooms today. Hope to get my computer back to normal so I can post photos again. It isn't the flowers that smell loudly, it the foliage when you brush it or crush it. Mine are in almost complete shade.
I think the flowers have a beautiful scent, the leaves when crushed have an unusual scent, but I don't find it unpleasant.
Hey!!! you got you computer back, congratulations!!
Wow Marty yours grow tall down south. I can't get mine over three feet or more. They are going in a large pot this year.
Yes, Josephine, I got my "Pictures" program back. It has been slow re-building the things that are possible to re-build.
Sheila, They did not freeze last winter. Some winters they do. I suppose yours must start over EVERY year! Mine got nipped a tiny bit.
So the daylilies I gave out at RU are probably 'Crimson Pirate'.
And anyone who got antelope horns milkweed from me, if it dies back, just water it whenever the top of the soil gets dry. Mine has been in afternoon shade and getting light waterings, and it's sent up a few new shoots!

I just planted my antelope horns milkweed out yesterday. I thought that it was a goner as the tops had died back entirely, but the did start putting out new top growth so hopefully they will make it.
I hope so, they are very hardy, just don't take to being transplanted well, and I'm sure it will sulk again when I put it in the ground (long taproot and all), but once it's established, it forms a tuberous root and will return each year.
Becky, I hope you will be able to two or three antelope horns milkweed for me this fall, I missed out this spring.
I will try to get something good for you in exchange.
I see antelope horns out on the roadsides driving from work. I'm so tempted to put a 5 gal bucket and my shovel in the back of my truck and go digging!!
Becky, mine is still alive! (Knock on wood.)
Stephanie, the roots are very deep and if you don't get enough of it they won't make it.
Best to gather seed from the wild.

Stephanie, I dug mine still very immature, (having only one or two stems still), and as deep as I could, still not getting all the taproot. Supposedly the taproot can reach 6', so I'd transplant it ASAP. I will try to put a few in a tree pot for you Josephine, til RU. That along with some seeds just in case.
I leave the ones on the outside of my fence alone, but the person that mows here just plows over those inside the fence, even after being told they're monarch hosts. So from now on I'll move them, right outside the fence or into y'all's yards :) LOL
Thank you Becky, you are so thoughtful and caring.
