Does anyone recognize what might be wrong with my Bing Cherry Tree? It lives in the Pacific Northwest?
My other fruit trees around it seem ok for now...
Any advise would be helpful....
HELP I have no idea what is going on with my Bing Cherry
Sorry but the picture is not clear enough to give me a good image of the problem BUT a problem you do have.
There are several problems Cherries can have, Ornamental or fruiting. they include Leaf curl caused by an insect that lays eggs on the leaf and curls up the leaf to protect the egg / grubs getting eaten by predators
Witches Broom, this is a disease that tunnels into the wood, normally at stem / branch junctions, you cant see it till the bunches of LIVE twig looking bunches appear, as far as I know, this does NOT kill a tree BUT looks unsightly.
There are several bacterial diseases too, like canker, Honey fungus and even more and to be honest, IF you could get a clearer picture, then there would be no need to frighten you with lot's of other stuff that you probably don't have.
The tree looks quite desperate though so you need help very soon I think. Please get back with more info as to where it grows, how old the tree is, soil, have you sprayed killer close to it etc.
Best of luck. WeeNel.
As noted by WeeNel, cherries can get a lot of different pests and diseases. Some are worldwide, some are local. Here is a link to some of the articles from UC Davis.
