This cactus was real little when we bought it, about 3 inches but now it is about 2 feet tall. If I plant it in the ground will it survive winter? I am near Waco Tx. Also, what kind of cactus is this and how big will it get and how old can it get? Every time I've transplanted it to a bigger pot it has grown a lot more. It is 5-6 years old now. It bloomed once, had a pink flower that lasted a long time
Will this cactus survive winter
Do you happen to have a pic of the flower?
Best advice I could give you is to keep the plant in it's pot and place the pot / plant into a hole dug for the pot to sink into it. that way for the first year at least, you have the option of bringing the plant instantly back inside IF you see it struggle in the outdoors.
It also allows you to lift the pot / plant back inside for winter IF you feel it needed.
when planted outside make sure you continue the regime you gave it inside for the first few months and only gradually pull back from that regime.
Hope this helps you out a bit and the plant enjoys it's new home.
Best Regards.
WeeNel.
