Norway maples are a pain. Native ones are better although they will still produce shade where you don't want it.

Nice! Don't you love that time when the garden can fill with iris blossoms?
So beautiful! I love all the bloom pictures! It's so fun to do a garden walk every day to see what's blooming! I have soooo many purple iris...I've got to expand and get some of the beauties you all have! Wonderful color!
The Siberian irises are blooming now.
I have a million iris from co-ops and trades last year, but only a handful bloomed. I was hoping to see more of the new ones, but I just have to wait another year or two :-(
The ones that did do it are wonderful! Marilyn, if you remember the name of your grandmother's luminous yellow, please let me know. And your yummy grape bloomed this weekend, but I didn't get a good picture of it.
More blooms: Topeka Garnet, Geum Totally Tangerine and noid lily, more peonies, yellow Geranium, the new Silver Moon Clemaits with Thalictrum Black Stockings.
Pam, the yellow heritage iris is called Alice Harding Cayeux.....the yellow I posted is the newbie....don't know where it came from but I love it!
Thank you! I love it, it's nice have the name.
You're most welcome...enjoy the iris.......all mine have petered out....waiting for the Japanese & spuria ones to start blooming.....
There were 4 blanks on your post, but when I 'enlarged' the photos were there until I was about to do the dahlia & suddenly all 4 photos blossomed.
nice marilyn
Pretty, pretty!
Lovely!! I just enjoy zinnias so much
Thanks, all....more dahlias are opening every day....I cut 3 this morning while on puppy potty break....
Marilyn, do you store the bulbs over the winter, or start with fresh ones every year?
I start fresh, Pam.....I've tried so many ways to keep them over the winter....in peat, in the fridge, in wax.....the best was in one of our 'milder' winters, they survived wrapped in damp newspaper in a nest of plastic buckets in my unheated garage......It's easier to buy new ones!
I did mine up - dry them out a bit - put them in a plastic grocery bag and stick the in a box. no problems.
Well, I can give it another try, I suppose, Bill.....
great flowers
looks nice marilyn - need to plant out my cindy - the tree not the wife:)
that "red" one starts yellow/chartreuse in spring, then green and a slow turn to red through the summer/fall
Yes, Cindy should be planted....you'll enjoy her! Your JM gives great color for 3 seasons.....that's what I need....
Had to run out and confirm the name of that one - SoaShika
Thanks, Bill!
So nice to see the happy gardens! In my case, there's always next year!
Next year is my mantra!
