HELP , I HAVE CARPENTER ANTS

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Please is there something I can use that is safe around pets to eliminate these nasty big butt buggers. They are huge and my Baxter thinks they are to be played with.
Is there a natural or safe pesticide I can use to get rid of them. I haven't seen any trail and there is just one or two of them. Today I killed three in the house. I haven't a clue where they are coming from.
Would appreciate any safe suggestions.

Borax, as in 20 Mule Team, is a good way to get rid of them in the house. you'll have to google it because i don't remember all the particulars.
one thing to remember with Carpenter Ants is that they like wet wood so do an all over house check to make sure you don't have any rotten spots. they also like to get in by dropping off of trees that are touching the house. do some trimming if you have to.

Trackinsand, LOL we live in the trees and they are about 2-3 hundred feet above us. No trimming happening there. I do like the boraxo suggestion though and someone suggested bicarbonate soda and sugar sat out as they will take it back to the nest and death to the queen.
