Weather in the Garden #137

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

and counting

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

felt too chilly to work outside today. 50's for tomorrow, so a good chance to finish tidying up and working a little on a fertile swale for near the road. Not too cold to make some online orders for those part-shade areas, mostly dwarf native shrubs and a few sale conifer seedlings for sun.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

spent all day outside raking - "only" have the backyard left to do.

have taken delivery of several conifers - tough planting today ground was a good 4-6" solid - looking forward to the warm up.

Thomaston, CT

Ground very frozen here as well! Walked out to feed the birds this morning & couldn't believe how warm it felt.....will enjoy the next few days.....

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Ground should be a little softer today. I'll be lucky if I just finish cleaning up, but did buy a few dwarf witch hazels and basic conifers on sale for later delivery-- finally a Golden Spreader seedling and a gold tipped picea glauca to contrast with p.o. Spring Frost. For me it's because without all the leaves there are clear places that need year-round color. What did you get, Bill?

Staten Island, NY(Zone 6a)

It is going up to 55 degrees today and I am planning to plant some tulip bulbs in a nice large pot and putting in a Red Dinner plate hibiscus in the garden bed.

South Hamilton, MA

57° clear slight breeze I am hoping to get some pine seedling trees cut for Advent wreaths at church. The squirrels plant them where we don't want them.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

got my last bulbs planted today and a lot of raking.

Rosemary - p.a. red devil, a. k. blue emperor, and mugo wintergold - have a large chief joseph coming with another dwarf blue abies. Have been looking for more bed expansion for these new additions.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Ohh! I'm not familiar with the first two cultivars. Chief Joseph will lend some very impressive color. Just love conifers, and yours also keep the JMs company.

Thomaston, CT

Opened the door this morning, & warm air flowed in.....felt great, even though it was raining.....

Staten Island, NY(Zone 6a)

Lovely day today in the sixties and is relieved that I got my last planting job done yesterday . Also sow some Allium seeds all over my garden , hoping they will relly enhance my yard. Leaving the north for a while and going to Florida to visit my son for Thankgiving.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

went from 55 to 41 today. our warm up is over

South Hamilton, MA

No use for the warm temperature here it was a rainy day. Still 50s tomorrow so hope we can get some small pines cut for Advent wreaths at church.

Thomaston, CT

Another nice day today......waiting to see if we get a lot of snow tomorrow!

Thomaston, CT

The snow has begun....ugh! Expecting 4-6"....ugh!

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Please batten down the hatches and be safe everyone! I appealed to DS to come home last night, and DD2 who intended to drive home had a radiator hose break, but the mechanical whiz that she is, she got a ride to the autoparts store, listened to their instructions and fixed it. Now while it is 43 and only overcast it is nice they are sleeping in.

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

Lucky them, and smart to travel before the storm. We're waiting to see if my DD, SIL and Gkids can get here, and when, or if we'll re-group in NYC,
Pic 1 is 20 minutes before the others.

Thomaston, CT

Warm today...hit 50 here, but I was inside entertaining my writing group......

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Warm here today, too. Almost too warm for a sweatshirt.

South Hamilton, MA

63° today. I wore my sweatshirt as while warmer, still needed it. Better than a fleece shirt.

Thomaston, CT

Cloudy & chilly right now....high of only 30.....freezing rain later today.....

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Icky, sleety stuff!!

South Hamilton, MA

33° rain later (might be 'freezing' at that temperature.) Snow is listed as further north. Really gloomy outside.

Thomaston, CT

No ice here....snow changed to rain....now it's foggy......much better than snow!
