I think you will get the cold before we do; it is predicted to come from the mid-west. No snow predicted here though.
Weather in the Garden #137
Emptied one of my compost bins that was well cooked , nice black gold was ready for my garden beds. Added some lime so when the rains come everything will be sweetened up. Started a new compost bin with lots of beautiful leaves and green clippings.
wonderful!
The temp hit 60 here yesterday, more of the same today.....will definitely work outside for a few hours.
55° now Will be in low 60s this afternoon. bright sun
Last day of warm weather for awhile.....very foggy this morning, but warm....
same here.
52° fog trying to leave but heavy overcast.
60 yesterday, 40 today
High temp should be around 50 today....sunny, though, & that makes it seem warmer!
42° also bright sun.
AACK! About an inch & a half of wet, fluffy white stuff all over the place.....much too early for me.
about an inch here. Melting & rain at 36°
Sorry, ladies! Just some rain for us.
When I went downtown to take Nicki for her walk, not a flake of snow was to be seen....It was all here up in the hills! The Hartford TV station did a special report in Goshen, the town that had the most snow yesterday.....that's where my son & family live.....the kids wanted to get out their sleds when I picked them up from school.....but by that time, major melt had set in! Thank God.....
Our inch of snow has turned to frost. Overnight low was 24 F. To think that earlier this week, the high was 64! I am grateful that Scott of OHG sent my last minute bulb order by express. On our last warm night I was out with a flashlight, planting. It is so good to know that when spring comes, there will be new blooms, and I am so grateful that it is possible.
31° up 2 degrees from earlier this morning. Iris meeting today in Bedford. Mainly on care instructions & trading plant seeds.
Enjoy your day, Lucy! Wish I could break free to join you.
in the 30's today. my light snow has melted, east of me got about a foot!
I still have some snow clinging to garden plants & grass in the shady areas.......very raw this morning.....hoping to put off Nicki's walk for another hour.....
23 last night, 29 now.
36° overcast
currently 33. I have a silly iris blooming!
Funny about the iris. My curly willow just put out a flush of fresh leaves. High got to 43 today so I finished planting bulbs, sprayed anti-dessicant and started cleaning up debris.
next weekend weather to rake
Gosh I really hope so!
Champaign encore?
Foggy & rainy....soooo much better than snow!
And with a fire in the fireplace once the weather does drop. We atarted our first one yesterday--warms the spirit. Heavy rain all night, good for the plants.
36° I think rain. DH had the windshield protector on the car, so he would not have to scrape it is there was frost.
Robin/ Rosemary,
I was thinking the same things!
Kind of sad to see the gardening season come to an end, but sure am looking forward to next spring/summer and hope the winter is not too harsh this year.
the iris seems to be a very faded Tyke (mtb) we now have almost an inch of snow. brought in the stalk last night as it has 2 more buds on it
Interesting. I did not know that tyke would rebloom. I wonder if Bee did. I can ask Stephie M about it.
It has never rebloomed before
I will check with Stephie Markham. She should know if it has done so.
Day was just lovely yesterday, back to cold today! Working at the church bazaar, so have been very busy!
32° bright sun, but a brisk wind makes it seem colder.
In 22 today. Less wind so it didn't feel so bad. Glad I'm not in western NY, lake effect snow is not fun
especially not 7 feet of it.
