I have two of these plants in my entryway. One is dying or something. What is this plant and why is it withering away. They are essentially in the same spot, bought at the same place at the same time and watered the same.
Why is one Plant dying and the other one ok?
So sorry to see a sad dracaena. When growers pot the rooted, woody "trunks" at different depths, the shallower ones will get water that never makes it to the ones more deeply rooted. Checking for moisture by sticking a finger in one of the holes at the bottom of the pot will help. Put some water in the saucer and see if it soaks it up in an hour or so,empty it out if not. If this wasn't caught early, the roots of the larger trunk may be too far gone to save.If there is a section of green stem just below the leaves watch for it to either plump up[good sign] or wither[not so good] Feel the brown bark of the trunk for a loose or decaying section and don't waste time watching it get worse. Watering issues are usually the first thing to go wrong with houseplants but there are a multitude of things trickier to diagnose from a photo. Perhaps you can ask the retailer of this plant to help. Obviously,I could go on and on. Don't feel bad if you chuck it and start fresh. Learning to let go can be a good thing.
The sticky at the top of this forum should be immensely helpful.
